Herniated disc

Herniated disc refers to a problem with spine in which rubbery cushion (disc) between vertebrae becomes problematic.It occurs when some of the softer “jelly” pushes our through a tear in tough exterior.

Herniated disc can irritate nearby structures and can result into pain, numbness,and weakness into legs or arm.Some people may experience no symptoms from herniated disc.

Symptoms:

Most herniated discs occur in lumber region but some may also occur in cervical region as well.common sign and symptoms are;

  • Pain in arm and leg
  • Numbness or tingling in body part affected by compressed nerve
  • muscle weakness

Risk factors:

  • Weight:Excessive body weight causes extra stress on your discs in lower back
  • Occupation: physically demanding jobs such as lifting heavy weight,pulling,bending sideways causes risk for herniated disc
  • Genetics
