How much sleep do you need?

Sleep is an important part of daily routine. You spend about one-third of your time doing it.Quality sleep and getting enough of it at right times is as essential as food and water.Without sleep you can’t form or maintain the pathways in your brain that let you learn and create new memories, and it’s harder to concentrate and respond quickly.

Everyone needs sleep ,but its biological purpose remains a mystery. Sleep affects almost every type of tissue and system of the body.Research shows that a chronic lack of sleep ,or getting poor quality sleep,increases the risk of disorders including high blood pressure, CVS disorders, diabetes, depression, obesity.

Sleep requirement:

Your need for sleep and your sleep patterns change as you age,but this varies significantly across individuals of the same age.There is no magic”number of sleep hours”that works for everybody of same age.

Babies need sleep of 16 to 18 hrs that is important for thier growth and development.School going children and adults need sleep of 9-9.5hrs.Elder people need average sleep of 7-6hrs.This pattern of sleep also vary from individual to individual according to the demands and is not specific.
