1. Use pencil eyeliner to line your lash line
When you don’t apply eyeliner close enough to your lash line, it leaves a noticeable gap between the line that you’ve drawn and your lash line! The trick is to start off by using a pencil eyeliner to fill in your lash line.
The best technique is to make short, overlapping strokes (or dashes) as close as possible to your lash line to prep for your eyeliner application.
2. Use an angled eyebrow brush to apply gel eyeliner
If you don’t have an eyeliner brush handy, an angled eyebrow brush will do the trick when you’re working with gel eyeliner!
3. Add saline solution to liquid eyeliner
If you’re out of liquid eyeliner, adding a drop or two of saline solution will help you get a few more uses out of it.
Pro tip: You don’t have to wait until you’re almost out of product to do this. This is a great way to thin out the consistency of liquid eyeliner. With certain liquid eyeliner formulas, it’s easier to achieve sharper lines when you dilute it a bit!
4. Create an outline with non-waterproof eyeliner
If you prefer waterproof eyeliner, you should create an outline first with a non-waterproof eyeliner. This makes it easy for you to adjust and clean up your outline until you’ve achieved your desired look. When you’ve got the perfect outline, just go over it with waterproof eyeliner!
