Skin care in winter

Here are a few ingredients you can use to make your skin soft and moisturised in winters,

1.Oils

Oils rich in essential fatty acids and lipids such as rosehip, avocado, and marula oil are essential for not only combatting dryness, but they also form a barrier between harsh conditions and the skin, keeping hydration levels balanced and the skin protected. Just remember to apply oils after any water-based creams, serums or moisturisers (oil can penetrate water-based products, but not vice versa).

2. Sheet Masks

Hydrating masks are great, but sheet masks take hydration to another level. Firstly, the delivery system is much more effective; a sheet doused in serum allows for optimal penetration as the sheet acts as a barrier, forcing your skin to absorb the active ingredients in the serum. Serums are also able to penetrate the skin much deeper than a traditional cream-based hydrating mask, too.

3. Vitamin C

As an ingredient that works to brighten the complexion and boost radiance, it already fits perfectly with this time of year, but it also works to undo sun damage that may have been caused during the summer months.

4. AHAs

When we think of colder weather and our skin together, we think of dryness, dullness and flaky patches, right? The build-up of dry skin and dead skin cells needs to be sloughed away, but as our skin tends to become more sensitive in colder conditions, physical scrubs aren’t recommended. Instead, try using an AHA based exfoliator such as a glycolic acid toner to gently but effectively break down those dead skin cells. Just remember to apply SPF daily when using acids.

5. Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is truly one of the most transformative skincare ingredients out there! It holds moisture in between skin cells, retains moisture and therefore gives us plump, hydrated skin. All skin types benefit from this ingredient and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough for when we’re all prone to dehydration in the fall time.
